A.I. and Us - An authorial statement

Author Kester Brewin's new book God-Like: a 500-year history of Artificial Intelligence in myths, machines, monsters is tackling a topic that went from niche sci-fi/fantasy to so freaking ubiquitous your great aunt probably knows about it now.

Or whomever. Think of the most random person who is totally unconcerned with sci-fi - they now either have heard, have used, or have an opinion about "A.I." - and that is crrrrrazy. Not because they shouldn't, but because the access to these tools and the mechanisms they utilize are now   ***e v e r y w h e r e***.

Read Brewin's article here. The statement on A.I. transparency is something I'm particularly interested in because I, too, do not want to use any sort of A.I. system/tool to generate, refine, or in any way "improve" my text.  Debates about spelling/grammar checks being "improvements" don't interest me, but sure, some may see them as doing just that.

This is Brewin's statement:

I, the author, hereby assert that this written work has been created in adherence to the following:
a) No content has been created using generative A.I. or any similar tools that generate text.
b) No content written by the author has been then edited or digitally 'improved' for clarity, readability or otherwise using A.I. or similar tools that offer suggestions on the style and content of text, based on text already written.
c) No content has been written by the author in response to evaluations of the text generated by A.I. tools that suggest gaps, summaries or revisions.
d) The written content has been spell-checked and grammar-checked using a digital tool (Grammarly). However, decisions on changes suggested have been taken entirely by the author, and not accepted, rejected or processed automatically in any way.
The world of A.I. is moving at pace, and this work has been created by human hands trying to keep up. If there are errors, they are human, they are mine.

I think this statement is great and will be using something similar going forward. It also applies not only to Dynasty of Blood, but to all my fiction, apart from the Grammarly section. I have utilized built-in spelling/grammar checks in the Scrivener app and Google Docs, but not Grammarly.
